3 - You Can Be Saved by the Grace of God

INTRODUCTION

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news of God’s grace [favor]. For example, in Acts 20:24, we read, “But I [Paul] do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.” Listen to what happened after Paul and Barnabas preached the gospel of God’s grace to some Jews in Acts 13:43: “Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.” Many people wanted them to continue teaching about the grace of God in Christ Jesus. Right now and for the rest of your life, I hope that you have that same desire to continue to eagerly want to hear about the grace of God in Christ Jesus, for it is inexhaustible!

There are four primary points that you need to come to firmly believe in about the grace of God in Christ.

1. First and foremost, being saved by grace means that you yourself cannot earn salvation. You are not good enough and never will be to earn or merit your own salvation.

2. Being saved by grace means that no other covenant, law, or dispensation of God can save you except the gospel of Jesus Christ. So you cannot be saved by keeping the O.T. Law of Moses.

3. Being saved by grace does not exclude obedience to the message of Christ for salvation. So you must obey the gospel to obtain eternal salvation (2 Thess 1:8, 9; He 5:9)

4. Because the grace of God teaches us how to live, we then cannot live the way we choose.

Finally, since many false things are being taught/followed by many, you must dig deeper into the meaning of the true grace of God. So I have included a brief True Grace vs. False Grace chart comparative study at the end of this lesson. Carefully consider/study each point. Seek to stand firm in the true grace of God, as Peter admonished us to do (1 Pe 5:12).
