What is your talent? In the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we Christians are one team. But there are two types of players on this team, with two different talents; those who proclaim the truth, and those who support the proclamation of the truth. Which type of team player are you? Which talent do you have? The Bible says that we Christians are like a body. But not all of us are placed into the body to be the mouth that proclaims the good news. Some are the arms and legs to help carry that news all over the world (1 Cor 12:12-31). Are you the mouth?

Jesus said: “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (NIV Mk 16:15, 16) Is that verse to be obeyed only by those who can preach the word of God? Certainly not! Those who cannot or do not go into all the world to preach the gospel can obey that command by supporting those who do go into all the world preaching (3 Jn 5-8). Therefore, all Christians can obey Jesus’ command to spread the gospel into all the world, but each obeys it according to their talent. What is your talent?

This is very important, that each Christian completely discovers their talents. Christians must clearly understand which type of team player they are. But it is even more important that each of us puts our talent(s) to good use today. If you know what type of team player you are, either one who proclaims the truth or one who supports the proclamation of the truth, then how well are you performing your role on the team today? All we have is today.

Which person are you like?

• Are you like Moses or Israel? Moses, Aaron, and the priests were spreading the word of God and all Israel was supporting them (Nu 18:21, 24; Ne 10:37). Should all Christians be supportive of those who spread the word of the cross?



• Are you like the twelve and seventy or like those who received them? When Jesus sent out the twelve and the seventy to preach the word (Mt 10:5-14, Lk 10:1-12), who was supposed to support them? Jesus indicated that It was to simply be those who were worthy people, those who received them.



• Are you like Paul or Onesiphorus, Philemon, and that church? When Paul devoted his life to preaching the gospel, people supported him, such as, Onesiphorus, Philemon, and a church (2 Tim 1:16; Philemon 22; Philippians 4:15-18).



• Are you like Jesus and the apostles or the many who supported them out of their own finances? When Jesus and his twelve apostles were preaching the kingdom of God, many people, including Mary, Joanna, and Susanna were supporting them out of their private means (Lk 8:1-3).

What is your talent? Are you a good team player like those in the examples above? Are you faithful to your Lord in using your ability?

If your talent is teaching people about Jesus, then use our free Bible studies to teach people about Him and the Bible. The Bible says that God only gave the talent to some, not all, to proclaim the gospel (e.g., evangelists Eph 4:11). So many, many more people would be given the talent to be supportive to those who do proclaim the gospel.
